Gift sets and kits from China to the UK

Send each supplier’s components to a shared China warehouse, count and photograph arrivals, hold until everything is ready, then assemble, inspect and export-pack the kits for bulk delivery to your UK business address. Agree compliance, importer identity and DDP responsibilities before dispatch. Coordinate the China work with Cambridge China Bridge.

Bring the components into a shared warehouse

For a monthly wellness kit, give each Alibaba supplier the same receiving address and a reference identifying your business, component and intended run. The eye mask, lavender balm, pillow mist, approved sleep patches and branded box can arrive separately. Ask who arranges and pays for each supplier’s delivery into the warehouse.

Request a receiving record showing counted quantities, component identity, batch details, visible damage and photographs. Separate shortages, leaking bottles and incorrect artwork from accepted stock. Receiving photos establish what arrived; agree separately whether component inspection is included.

Hold the components until every approved part is available. Reconcile usable stock against the kit contents list before authorising assembly. For repeat runs, record opening stock, receipts, assembly consumption, rejects and remaining stock. Agree who chases late suppliers and approves any substitutions.

Approve the branding and assembly method

Before the first run, approve a sample kit or a detailed photo set showing the actual components, box, insert, labels and packing arrangement. Check logo placement, print colour, bottle orientation, box closure and protection against leakage. Photographs cannot establish scent, texture or handling quality; request a physical sample when those matter.

Give the assembler a written contents list and illustrated packing instructions. Define final QC for missing items, damaged packs, label placement, artwork and box presentation. After approval, pack the finished kits into export cartons and record carton contents, dimensions and gross weight. A trial run can be scoped through our small-orders service.

Ask for separate quote lines

Separate component purchases and supplier-to-warehouse transport from receiving, counting and photographs; storage while parts wait; per-kit assembly and QC; labelling; and export cartons or pallets. Ask how shortages, rejected components, rework and leftover stock are charged. Specify whether storage is measured by space occupied, stock held or another stated basis.

Show freight against packed volume and gross weight, with the chargeable basis explained. Separate clearance, final delivery, duty and import VAT under DDP. Identify one-off assembly set-up, sample-kit preparation and sample delivery. Ask for inclusions, exclusions and conditional charges in writing. Use our quote-check service to compare the same scope.

Clear the cosmetics checks before sale

For cosmetics sold in Great Britain, including a cosmetic balm or body mist, arrange a UK Responsible Person, a cosmetic product safety report and notification through SCPN before sale. Use our guides to appointing a Responsible Person, safety assessment and the product information file, and SCPN notification for the detailed process.

Ask a compliance specialist to classify each component by its intended use and claims. A pillow-only fragrance mist should not automatically be treated as a body cosmetic. Match factory documents and approved artwork to the exact formula and packaging supplied. Make unresolved classification or paperwork a hold point in your release instructions. Check Northern Ireland requirements separately if that is your destination.

Check sleep patches and mist freight acceptance

Melatonin is a prescription-only medicine in the UK. Exclude melatonin-containing sleep patches from an ordinary wellness gift-kit brief and seek specialist medicines advice. Medicinal claims can also make a product a medicine. Review the component labels, gift-box wording and sales copy before approving production.

For an alcohol-based fragrance mist, ask whether it falls within perfumery dangerous goods before booking air. GOV.UK identifies perfume among dangerous goods and requires specialist training for packing dangerous goods for air transport. Send the formula and SDS to the forwarder. Sea or rail is usually simpler to organise when air acceptance is difficult, but obtain route-specific acceptance. Our sea versus air guide explains how to compare delivery scope.

Name the importer and the DDP seller

Name the contractual seller carrying DDP obligations to your specified UK business address. Under DDP, the seller carries transport costs and risks to the destination and handles import clearance, duty and import VAT. If the warehouse only assembles goods, identify the separate party accepting those delivery obligations. Agree unloading arrangements and who handles delivery problems. This is bulk delivery to your business, not individual consumer parcels.

Before dispatch, confirm the business named as importer, whose EORI is used, ownership at import and who receives the VAT evidence. DDP alone does not establish your right to reclaim import VAT; see our DDP VAT guide. For a DAP alternative, agree buyer-arranged import clearance and tax payment separately. Record the cosmetic Responsible Person alongside these arrangements so the roles are explicit. If the order will repeat every month, our monthly kit and subscription box programmes service covers assembly in China and one bulk delivery to a single UK address.

Frequently asked questions

Can different Alibaba suppliers deliver to the same China warehouse?

Yes, if the warehouse accepts their components. Give suppliers shared receiving instructions, identify each component and require counts and photos before assembly.

What should a gift-kit assembly quote include?

Receiving, storage, per-kit assembly and QC, labelling, export packing, freight by volume and weight, clearance and delivery, DDP duty and VAT, plus separate set-up and sample-kit costs.

Can I include melatonin sleep patches in a UK gift set?

Melatonin is a prescription-only medicine in the UK. Exclude melatonin patches from an ordinary wellness kit and obtain specialist medicines advice before proceeding.

Does DDP mean my business is the importer?

Check the agreed import structure. Confirm the named importer, EORI, ownership and VAT evidence before shipment. The DDP seller’s delivery obligations do not answer those questions by themselves.
