Importing from China to Tunisia: prior control
For listed consumer products, Tunisia requires prior import control and direct purchasing from the producing factory in the exporting country. Have your Tunisian broker confirm product coverage and the UK company’s role before ordering. Cambridge China Bridge coordinates sourcing and checks in China.
Buying from China for a business? How our UK China sourcing agent service works · China sourcing agent for businesses outside the UK

Start with prior control and the factory-direct rule
The Ministry of Commerce’s joint notice introduces prior control for consumer products on its attached lists and requires those products to be imported directly from the producing factory in the exporting country. This makes the purchasing route a question to settle before accepting a UK seller’s quotation.
Send your broker the product specification, proposed tariff classification, factory identity and proposed invoice chain. Ask for confirmation of current coverage and the acceptable purchasing arrangement. The notice allows changes to the product and document lists. For other destinations, consult the separate Algeria and Morocco guides.
Agree the UK company’s role and your port price
Ask your broker whether the proposed UK seller and invoice arrangement works for your product before paying a deposit. Where coverage is uncertain, resolve it before choosing the contracting seller. Our buy-through-a-UK-company service explains the commercial arrangement to discuss.
We can quote to your nominated Tunisian port. Ask the quotation to identify freight, insurance, destination handling, clearance, duties, taxes and onward delivery as included or excluded. Your own customs broker confirms the final entry and local charges. The overseas buying guide covers the wider service.
Prepare the factory and shipment documents
Agree a document checklist with your broker before production. We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the Chinese factory and arrange the certificate of origin and relevant test reports. Agree who issues each invoice, and have the broker review drafts against the actual seller, manufacturer, goods and shipment.
Ask the factory for reports identifying the exact model and construction you are buying. Match descriptions, quantities, weights and carton marks across the file. Send proposed labels, instructions and technical information to your broker for review before printing; agree any further testing before production.
Give your broker the file before arrival
For products subject to the Ministry’s technical-control procedure, the importer must apply through the foreign-trade single window for provisional removal or release for consumption before arrival and before customs formalities. This is work to arrange with your broker while the shipment is being prepared.
Agree that your own Tunisian broker handles the declaration, final classification and valuation, applicable duties and taxes, control coordination and release arrangements. Provisional removal allows storage while further checks are completed; it is not the same as release for sale. Ask your broker to confirm the shipment’s status before distributing the goods.

Check the supplier and inspect before shipment
Our staff in China check the supplier’s identity, production location and ability to make the agreed product. We compare samples, specifications and supporting reports, and clarify whether production will be subcontracted. Keep an approved sample and record any agreed changes.
Before shipment, we inspect against the agreed specification: workmanship, dimensions, functions, quantities, packaging and approved labels. We report defects and arrange corrective checks before recommending shipment. Keep this quality inspection separate from the official import-control process when planning the order.
