Importing from China to Seychelles: Import permits

Start by checking whether your goods are restricted: SRC lists an import permit as required for restricted goods. Ask your Seychelles broker to confirm the product and paperwork before ordering. We can source in China and quote to your own port. Cambridge China Bridge coordinates the China-side work.

Check the restricted-goods permit gate

The Seychelles Revenue Commission lists “Import Permit: Required for restricted goods.” Start your purchase enquiry by asking your Seychelles customs broker to check the exact product against the applicable restrictions. Send the specification, materials, intended use and photographs before approving the order.

Ask your broker to confirm the permit position in writing and identify any product approvals, testing or label details to settle before production. Use the Kenya guide and South Africa guide when comparing destinations; ask your broker to establish the Seychelles route for this product.

Agree a price to your own port

Cambridge China Bridge is a UK-based sourcing company with its own staff in China. Tell us your Seychelles destination port, product specification, quantity and packaging needs. We can quote to your own port, with the delivery term and the included freight and insurance work stated in the quotation.

Ask for arrival charges, local delivery and customs work to be identified separately wherever they sit outside the quote. Your own broker confirms the final entry and local duties and taxes. Read buying through a UK company for the purchasing arrangement and buying from China outside the UK for the wider service.

Prepare the documents with the factory

We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the Chinese factory. Ask your broker to review drafts showing the actual buyer, seller, goods, values and packing details before shipment. Reconcile model descriptions, quantities, carton marks and weights across the documents and the goods.

Tell us whether your broker needs a certificate of origin or specific test reports so we can arrange these with the factory and relevant issuer or laboratory. Check that reports identify the supplied model and construction. Agree who obtains the bill of lading and insurance document, and send the broker a complete document pack for review.

Check the supplier and inspect before shipment

Our China staff check the supplier's identity, production address, manufacturing capability and proposed subcontracting against your order. We agree a written specification and approved sample, then check whether the factory can produce the goods and supporting documents your Seychelles broker has requested.

Before shipment, we inspect against the agreed specification and sample, covering workmanship, dimensions, function, quantities, packaging and approved labels as relevant. Record defects and agree corrections before authorising dispatch. Treat this inspection as an order-quality check; have your broker confirm separately whether the proposed reports and certificates satisfy the product's import requirements.

Give your Seychelles broker the arrival work

SRC states that goods imported into Seychelles undergo customs procedures and that importers must ensure correct declarations. Its guidance also requires a Bill of Entry together with the import permit for clearance of restricted goods. Arrange for your own broker to prepare the entry, review supporting documents and coordinate customs queries and release.

Before dispatch, ask your broker to confirm the classification, declared value, permit coverage and final document checklist. On arrival, ask them to confirm the assessed duties and taxes, any examination arrangements and collection instructions. Keep the broker's clearance confirmation alongside the invoice, packing list and shipment records.
