Importing from China to Georgia: product permits
Start with Georgia's product-specific document gate: the Revenue Service requires the relevant permit, licence or certificate where legislation specifies it. Have your Georgian customs broker check the exact goods before ordering. Arrange factory sourcing and checks in China through Cambridge China Bridge.

Check the product before committing to a factory
Send your broker the proposed model, materials, intended use and technical specification. Ask for a written checklist covering import eligibility, applicable conformity evidence, registration and label wording. Resolve those questions before approving packaging or paying for production.
For example, Revenue Service guidance requires an import permit for dual-use products marked with the specified stars in its control list. Ask the broker to assess technical parameters, rather than relying on the supplier's product name. For other destinations, consult the separate guides to Turkey and Kazakhstan.
Agree the document pack and who supplies it
We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the factory and the agreed selling arrangement. The invoice should explain the actual sale to you; the packing list should reconcile models, quantities, carton contents and weights. Ask your broker to review drafts showing the UK seller, Chinese producer and Georgian buyer before shipment.
Where your broker identifies a need for a certificate of origin, we coordinate obtaining the requested document at the China end. The factory supplies existing test reports for review, and we arrange additional testing if agreed. Match reports to the ordered model and construction. Obtain the transport document from the carrier or forwarder and check it against the shipment pack.
Give your own broker the arrival work
Appoint your Georgian customs broker before placing the order. Agree that they will confirm classification, customs value, applicable duties and taxes, required documents and the final entry. Give them the sales paperwork and freight breakdown, then ask them to identify gaps while corrections can still be made.
On arrival, your broker handles the agreed declaration and clearance work, responds to customs queries and coordinates any examination and release with the relevant parties. Confirm separately who pays terminal charges, collects the goods and arranges onward delivery. The overseas buying guide explains the wider division of responsibilities.
Check the supplier and inspect the actual goods
Our own staff in China check the supplier's identity, production location and ability to make the agreed specification. We establish which processes happen at the factory and which are subcontracted, review samples and compare the available equipment and quality records with the proposed order.
Before shipment, we inspect against the approved sample and written acceptance criteria. Checks can cover workmanship, dimensions, function, quantities, packaging and approved artwork. Record defects and corrective work before authorising dispatch. Keep laboratory testing as an agreed task alongside physical inspection.

Request a quote to your Georgian port
Tell us your product, intended use, order quantity and chosen Georgian destination port. Ask for the delivery term, freight scope, insurance arrangement and destination charges to be stated clearly. Compare the port quotation with your broker's arrival estimate to build your buying budget. The UK company buying service explains the commercial arrangement.
For the checking work, factory audits and inspections are usually included in the quote; complex checks that need a third party are charged separately and agreed in advance. Ask the quotation to identify the inspection scope, document work and any testing still awaiting your approval.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an import licence for goods from China?
The answer depends on the goods and the applicable Georgian rules. Give your broker the full specification and request a product-specific document checklist before committing to the order.
Can a UK sourcing company quote to my port in Georgia?
Yes. Specify your destination port and ask for a written delivery term and cost breakdown. Obtain a separate estimate for clearance, local charges and onward transport.
What documents should I ask the Chinese factory for?
Request packing details and model-matched test reports. Agree the commercial invoice with the actual seller, and ask your broker which origin document and additional product evidence to obtain.
Who clears my goods when they arrive in Georgia?
Your own Georgian customs broker handles the clearance tasks you appoint them to perform. We coordinate the China-side shipment file and help resolve factory document queries.
