Confirm the importer’s registration before ordering

Mozambique’s government trade portal states that all traders must be registered and obtain their foreign trade operator licence, which may cover imports, exports or both. For a commercial factory order, make confirming the importing entity and its licence your starting point.

Send your own customs broker the proposed importer’s details, product description and draft order before paying a deposit. Ask them to confirm the registration position and identify any product-specific permissions, certification or labelling to settle before production.

Get a quote to your named Mozambique port

Tell us your product, specification, quantity and destination port, such as Maputo, Beira or Nacala. Ask for the delivery term and named port in writing, with freight, insurance where included, and destination charges clearly described. Budget separately for charges outside the quotation.

Use our overseas buying guide for the wider procurement process and buying through a UK company to agree the seller, payment arrangements and responsibilities. Confirm who invoices you when the goods travel directly from China.

Agree the document pack with your broker

We coordinate the commercial invoice with the agreed seller and obtain the factory’s packing list, checking descriptions, quantities, weights and carton markings against the order. Send draft documents to your broker while corrections are still possible. Keep the seller, manufacturer, consignee and shipping details consistent with the actual transaction.

Ask the broker whether a certificate of origin is needed and what form they will accept; we arrange it as agreed. We collect available factory test reports and check their connection to the ordered model. Ask the broker to confirm any further testing or certification before shipment, then share the transport document when issued.

Check the factory and inspect the actual goods

Our staff in China check the supplier’s identity, production capability and whether the proposed work is done at the factory being assessed. We agree the specification, approved sample, packaging and inspection criteria with you before production. Resolve gaps in test evidence before approving the order.

Before shipment, we inspect production goods against the agreed criteria, recording workmanship, dimensions, function, quantities and packaging as appropriate. We report defects for your decision and arrange corrective checks where agreed. Keep this inspection separate from the broker’s confirmation of any official conformity requirements.

Give your own broker the arrival work

Agree that your Mozambique broker will confirm the final customs entry, classification, valuation, applicable duties and taxes, and supporting documents. Have them coordinate clearance queries, any requested examination and release arrangements. Separately agree who handles port collection and onward delivery.

If you also buy for nearby markets, use the South Africa guide and Tanzania guide to prepare separate destination briefs. Give each broker the exact product and route rather than treating regional paperwork as interchangeable.
