Amazon UK Individual or Professional selling plan?
Choose Individual for a modest sales trial if its tools and category access meet your needs. Choose Professional when expected monthly sales justify the subscription or you need its selling tools. Neither name defines your business or importer status. Coordinate factory evidence with Cambridge China Bridge.

Keep the plan separate from your business status
Individual and Professional are Amazon selling-plan names. Do not use them to decide whether to operate as a sole trader or limited company, or who will import the goods. Record your business structure, importer and chosen selling plan separately before registration.
A sole trader can import, and importer responsibilities do not disappear because you choose Individual. Our sole-trader importing guide explains that distinction. Use the Amazon UK setup guide for account records, product identifiers and listing preparation.
Compare plan charges against monthly sales
Amazon publishes an Individual fee of £0.75 per unit sold, with no monthly plan fee. Professional costs £25 per month excluding VAT, regardless of units sold, without the Individual per-unit plan charge. Check the VAT shown against both charges before budgeting. Referral fees remain separate under either plan.
Multiply expected monthly units sold by the Individual fee and compare the result with the Professional subscription on the same VAT basis. Use cautious and stronger sales forecasts, including months while stock is unavailable. Compare sales to customers, rather than the quantity ordered from the factory. Keep fulfilment, storage, advertising and returns costs in a separate budget.

Choose around the tools you will actually use
Amazon associates Professional with advanced selling tools, bulk listing and advertising features. A small imported batch can still justify Professional if your launch depends on those functions. Write down the exact listing and advertising tasks you intend to perform, then check access in the UK account before choosing.
Ask whoever will manage the account to demonstrate the intended workflow. Identify which tasks can be handled manually and which need bulk tools. Treat advertising spend as an additional budget, rather than assuming the subscription pays for campaigns. A tool you will not use is a weak reason to pay for Professional.
Check category access before committing to stock
Amazon says some categories require a Professional seller account, and certain products or categories may need prior approval. Paying for Professional is therefore not evidence that your intended product has been approved. Check the exact product, category and brand in your seller account before committing to production.
Save the approval prompts and responses alongside the factory specification. Ask for the specific invoice, label photograph or product evidence requested, following our setup guide. If access remains unresolved, hold the buying decision rather than assuming a plan upgrade will resolve it.

Review the plan as the trial develops
Amazon says you can change or cancel your plan at any time. Review actual monthly sales, the tools used and the next launch activity before changing. Recheck category access and dependent workflows first, so a lower subscription cost does not interrupt your intended selling arrangements.
Make the fulfilment decision separately using our trial-batch fulfilment comparison. Keep a short decision record covering sales assumptions, required tools, category checks and the next review point. Cambridge China Bridge’s own staff in China can coordinate factory documents and packing evidence for your chosen route.
Frequently asked questions
Can a business use Amazon's Individual plan?
Individual is a selling-plan name, not a business structure. Check whether its tools and category access suit your business, and keep your registration and importer details accurate.
Is Professional cheaper for my first batch?
Compare expected monthly units sold multiplied by £0.75 with the £25 monthly subscription, using the same VAT basis. Required tools or category access may determine the choice before fee savings do.
Does Professional let me sell restricted products?
Do not assume so. Some categories require Professional, while certain products or categories also need approval. Check the intended listing and resolve approval requests before buying stock.
Can I change my Amazon selling plan later?
Amazon says you can change or cancel your plan at any time. Before changing, check the tools and category access your listings depend on, then review the settings in your seller account.
