Findings

ItemStatusFindingPhotos
Identity on siteCheckedThe business licence displayed in the office shows the same legal name and credit code as the desk-check record. The gate sign and the delivery notes in the warehouse carry the same name.Photos: 1–3
Factory or trading companyCheckedA manufacturer. Stamping, riveting, spring assembly and packing are done on site. Nickel plating is sent out (see Subcontracting).Photos: 4–6
Production linesCheckedOne stamping hall and two assembly lines. Line 1 was assembling 35 mm soft-close hinges during the visit; line 2 was assembling drawer slides.Photos: 4, 7
MachinesNote14 punch presses rated 25 to 80 tonnes, built 2016 to 2023, nameplates photographed. Two further presses had no nameplate and were not running.Photos: 8–10
CapacityUnverifiedThe factory states 600,000 hinges a month. Line 1 produced about 1,100 hinges in a timed hour with 9 workers on one day shift: roughly 230,000 a month from one line on one shift. The stated figure would need both lines on hinges or a second shift; neither was seen.Photos: 7, 11
SubcontractingNoteNickel plating is done by an outside plating plant. The factory named the plant but did not provide its environmental permit or a salt-spray test report for plated parts.Photos: —
Quality controlWeakIncoming steel coil is accepted on the mill certificate alone. In-process checks are made by the line leader with go/no-go gauges and recorded on paper. An AQL table is posted at final inspection, but records for the previous two weeks could not be found. One of four callipers carried an expired calibration label.Photos: 12–14
Certificates on siteOn their faceThe ISO 9001 certificate on the wall matches the copy received for the desk check. Not yet confirmed with the issuing body.Photos: 15
Sample pullCheckedTen hinges taken at random by our staff from two finished-goods cartons, photographed, sealed and sent to the buyer by courier.Photos: 16–17
Working conditions, as observedNoteFire exits clear and marked; guards fitted to the presses seen running; most press operators wore gloves and ear protection. Observations only, not a social audit.Photos: 18–19

Before a first order

  1. Ask for the plating plant's environmental permit and a salt-spray test report for plated hinges, or have the sealed samples tested by a laboratory.
  2. Ask the factory to show how it reaches 600,000 a month, with dated production records for a second shift or for line 2 on hinges.
  3. Ask for the missing final-inspection records, and for the expired calliper to be recalibrated.
  4. Confirm the ISO 9001 certificate with the issuing body.
  5. Inspect the first order before shipment (Level 3).
