Can UKCA-only stock be sold in Northern Ireland?
Do not release UKCA-only stock for Northern Ireland just because it has already been sold in Great Britain. Check the Northern Ireland sector marking and supporting conformity evidence for the exact goods. A GB sales invoice does not settle that check. Factory records can be gathered by Cambridge China Bridge.

Put the Northern Ireland allocation on hold
Separate the stock proposed for Northern Ireland and record its model, batch, configuration and current markings. Keep photographs of the product, packaging and instructions alongside the GB purchase and sales records. Treat the hold as your internal release control while the Northern Ireland assessment is completed.
Our marking and certification guide explains what markings and reports mean. This guide adds the release check for existing stock. Use the Northern Ireland import guide separately for route and customs questions.
Read the Northern Ireland column for every relevant sector
Use the GOV.UK product-marking table named in the sources below. Match the product to its sector, read the Northern Ireland column, then open the sector guidance on that page. Do not copy the Great Britain column into your release decision. Some sectors use markings other than CE.
More than one regulation can apply to a product. Record every relevant sector against the actual specification, including its intended use and accessories. If the classification is unclear, send that specification to the responsible department or a product-sector adviser and ask for a written conclusion.
Confirm the assessment route before changing labels
For products in the CE regime, the route may permit manufacturer self-declaration or require third-party assessment. Mandatory assessment by a Northern Ireland notified body requires CE together with the Northern Ireland conformity marking. Ask the reviewer to record the route, the body's role where applicable and the resulting marking.
Do not instruct a warehouse to add CE solely because the factory supplied a UKCA declaration. Ask the manufacturer to explain which existing evidence supports the Northern Ireland route and what gaps remain. Agree any additional assessment, document changes and marking work before handling the stock.
Build an evidence pack for the goods you hold
Request the applicable declaration, supporting technical documentation, test reports and any assessment-body certificate. Match their scope to the stock's model, rating, materials, components and intended use. Ask for a written explanation of any difference between the tested sample and the goods in your warehouse.
Keep the approved marking artwork, photographs after any rework, instructions and identification details with that pack. Record where the manufacturer's technical file can be obtained and who reviewed it. Use the product specification guide to describe configuration differences clearly.

Release against a recorded decision
Ask the person responsible for your compliance review to record the applicable sectors, accepted assessment route, documents checked, outstanding issues and stock covered. Release only the allocation covered by that decision after the agreed work has been checked. Keep unresolved models or batches on hold.
Cambridge China Bridge's staff in China can gather factory specifications, reports and explanations for the review. Give them photographs and identifiers from the existing stock so the enquiry concerns what you actually hold, rather than the factory's current catalogue model.
Frequently asked questions
Does a previous GB sale make UKCA stock suitable for NI?
Do not use the GB sale as release approval. Check the Northern Ireland marking route and evidence for the actual stock, then record the result before dispatch.
Can I just add a CE sticker to UKCA stock?
Do not add CE on the strength of a UKCA declaration alone. Ask the manufacturer to confirm the applicable assessment route and supporting evidence before approving marking work.
Does every product need CE for Northern Ireland?
No. Conformity marking depends on the sector. Read the Northern Ireland column in the GOV.UK table and follow its sector guidance rather than assuming CE applies.
What documents should I request for existing stock?
Request the applicable declaration, technical documentation, reports and any assessment-body certificate. Match them to the warehouse stock and keep approved marking photographs and the release decision.
