Sourcing men's woven anoraks from China
Men's woven anoraks from China carry 12% UK duty across the listed lines, with no anti-dumping or countervailing duty. Fibre composition must be labelled, and animal trims need scrutiny under the tariff's fur controls. Cambridge China Bridge sources men's woven anoraks.

Duty and classification for woven anoraks
Read from the UK Trade Tariff on 2 October 2026, heading 6201 covers men's or boys' overcoats, anoraks, wind-jackets and similar outerwear. This guide focuses on men's woven anoraks. The table selects cotton and man-made fibre anorak lines, separated by finished garment weight at 1 kg. For trench coats, see our men's woven trench coat sourcing guide. For cape styles, see our men's woven cape sourcing guide.
All listed lines carry 12% duty for goods from China, with no anti-dumping or countervailing measures and no suspensions recorded. The tariff attaches cat and dog fur import and export controls and a seal-products import control. Cat and dog fur, and products made from it, are banned from import and export. Seal products relying on the traditional-hunt exemption need a seal catch attestation. Confirm requirements for any animal trim with your customs broker before ordering.
Give your broker the shell composition, construction, coating details and finished garment weight to confirm the commodity code. Do not select a code from the product name alone. Compare knitted construction in our men's knitted anoraks guide.

Specify the shell, hood and weather performance
Specify shell fibre composition, weave, fabric weight, lining and any fill. Agree the chest, sleeve and back measurements, fit over other clothing, hood depth and adjustment, cuff closure, hem drawcord, pocket construction and zip. Approve a finished sample with the intended branding and trims.
Separate water-repellent finishing from a waterproof claim. For waterproof anoraks, agree fabric tests, taped seam construction and finished garment checks before and after washing. Include the hood seams, pocket openings and zip area in the checks, rather than testing the shell fabric alone. For raincoat sourcing, see our men's woven raincoat guide.
Fibre content must appear on the label. Match the artwork to the actual materials and identify any animal-derived trims or fill. Consumer products supplied in Great Britain must be safe under the general product safety rules. Check exposed sharp hardware, insecure fasteners and adjustment cords during sample approval.
Worked duty example
Illustrative example, not a quote: Illustrative order: 500 men's woven anoraks of man-made fibres under 6201 40 10 90, invoiced at £6,000 free on board, with £800 of freight and insurance to the UK. The customs value is £6,800. Duty at 12% is £816. Import VAT at 20% is charged on the customs value plus duty, £7,616, so it is £1,523.20. Import taxes total £2,339.20; a VAT-registered importer can usually reclaim the VAT, so the lasting cost is the £816 of duty. The import duty and VAT guide explains each step.
Inspection checklist
Fit and hood: measure production garments against the approved size chart, check sleeve movement and confirm that the hood adjusts without obstructing vision.
Shell and seams: check fabric against the approved sample, inspect stitching and seam tape, and test the agreed weather performance after washing.
Zips and pockets: operate closures, check zip alignment and storm flaps, and inspect reinforcement at pocket corners and drawcord exits.
Labels and delivery: compare fibre labels with material records, verify any faux-fur claim, weigh finished garments and check arriving cartons for dampness or mould. Use the quality inspection guide to brief the inspector.

What goes wrong
Anoraks can pass a fabric water test but leak through hood seams, pocket openings or the zip. Seam tape can lift after washing, dark shells can transfer colour to pale linings, and sleeves or hoods can fit differently from the approved sample.
Substituted trims create another problem: a faux-fur description may conceal animal fur, while fibre labels may still describe the original sample. Compare production materials and labels before shipment, then check received stock against the approved garment and packing list.
Cambridge China Bridge sources these products for UK businesses, checking the factory and the documents before shipment. See factory verification. For own-brand ranges, see sourcing for brands.
Frequently asked questions
What is the UK import duty on men's woven anoraks from China?
The listed lines carry 12% duty, with no anti-dumping or countervailing measures and no suspensions recorded in the supplied tariff snapshot.
Does an anorak's weight change its commodity code?
Yes. The cotton and man-made fibre lines distinguish garments not exceeding 1 kg from those exceeding 1 kg. Weigh a finished production sample; both weight groups carry 12% duty.
What label does a men's woven anorak need?
The label must show fibre content, including relevant animal parts. Check the actual shell, lining, fill and trims before approving label artwork.
How do I check whether an anorak is waterproof?
Agree fabric and finished garment tests before production. Check taped seams, hood seams, pockets and the zip area, including after washing according to the agreed care instructions.
