Sourcing jaw crushers from China
Jaw crushers from China carry 0% UK import duty; the selected machinery and parts lines are all duty-free, with no recorded trade remedies. Crushers must meet the machinery safety regulations and have English instructions; confirm the applicable guarding and emergency-stop requirements with HSE. Cambridge China Bridge sources jaw crushers.

Jaw crusher duty and classification
Read from the UK Trade Tariff on 30 September 2026, jaw crushers for stone, ores and other mineral substances fall within the crushing or grinding machinery line of heading 8474. The selected lines carry 0% duty for goods from China, with no recorded anti-dumping or countervailing duties, suspensions or attached import controls.
The table includes crusher parts and separately imported companion screens. It does not mean that every component uses a machinery-parts code. Confirm the commodity code against the machine specification, its configuration and the goods shipped separately.
For screens, mixers and other mineral-processing equipment within the heading, see crushers and concrete mixers from China. This guide concentrates on the jaw crusher and its wear parts.
| Goods | Commodity code | Duty | Anti-dumping or countervailing duty on China |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jaw crushers for stone, ores and other mineral materials | 8474 20 00 00 | 0% | None |
| Crusher parts of cast iron or cast steel | 8474 90 10 00 | 0% | None |
| Other crusher parts | 8474 90 90 00 | 0% | None |
| Separately imported screening machines for a jaw-crushing line | 8474 10 00 00 | 0% | None |
Specify the feed, jaw setting and wear parts
Describe the rock or recycled material, its hardness, moisture and contamination. Specify feed opening, maximum feed size, closed-side discharge setting, required product grading and throughput on that material. Agree whether the supply includes the feeder, screen, discharge conveyor and controls. Record drive type, electrical supply, foundation loads, access for maintenance and arrangements for changing jaw plates.
Specify jaw-plate and cheek-plate grades, bearing makes, lubrication arrangements and spare-part drawings. Crushers fall under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 and need English instructions and UKCA or CE marking. Confirm the applicable guarding and emergency-stop requirements with HSE. New machinery supplied in Great Britain also needs a declaration of conformity. The responsible person must compile the technical file and make it available on request. Arrange testing and certification around the actual configuration.
Worked duty example
Illustrative example, not a quote: A compact electric jaw crusher with spare jaw plates, illustrative only under 8474 20 00 00, invoiced at £32,000 free on board, with £6,000 of freight and insurance to the UK. The customs value is £38,000. Duty at 0% is £0. Import VAT at 20% is charged on the customs value plus duty, £38,000, so it is £7,600. With no duty, the only import tax is the VAT, which a VAT-registered importer can usually reclaim. The import duty and VAT guide explains each step.
Inspection checklist
Wear parts: compare jaw plates, cheek plates and their fixings with the approved drawings. Check material certificates, sampled composition and hardness against the ordered grade, and confirm that replacement plates fit.
Build and drive: inspect frame welds, bearing housings, lubrication points, belt alignment and fasteners. On arrival, check for transit damage and compare the motor, controls and supplied spares with the packing list.
Performance: run material close to yours at the agreed jaw setting. Record feed grading, output grading, throughput, power draw and bearing temperature. Follow the same agreed checks before shipment and on arrival; use the inspection guide to set the inspection scope.
Safety and documents: inspect guards around flywheels, belts and drives, emergency stops and isolation arrangements. Match the declaration of conformity and English manual to the machine. Check safe access for maintenance and blockage clearance. For a diesel mobile crusher, check the engine's type approval and displayed markings.

What goes wrong
Capacity quoted for soft, dry feed can fall short on harder or wetter material. Jaw plates can wear prematurely if their grade differs from the order, while unsuitable bearings can overheat. A different jaw setting can make a demonstration look productive while delivering the wrong product grading. Tie acceptance to the agreed material, setting and measured output.
Missing guards and awkward maintenance access create problems beyond poor output. The HSE advises never removing guards for cleaning while the machine is operating, and shutting off and locking off when guards need removal. Check that the supplied instructions and layout support this before accepting the crusher.

Frequently asked questions
What is the UK import duty on jaw crushers from China?
The supplied tariff record shows 0% for crushing or grinding machines under 8474 20 00 00, with no recorded anti-dumping or countervailing duty.
Do jaw crushers need CE or UKCA marking?
New machinery placed on the Great Britain market needs UKCA or CE marking, a declaration of conformity and English instructions. Check the documents against the supplied crusher.
How do I check a Chinese jaw crusher's capacity?
Agree a trial using material close to yours. Record feed size, jaw setting, throughput and output grading together. A capacity figure without those conditions is a weak basis for acceptance.
What should I check on a diesel mobile jaw crusher?
Confirm with the relevant authority whether the non-road mobile machinery emission rules apply to the engine. Check its type approval and displayed engine markings, alongside the crusher's safety documents and guards.
