Stock shape or new mould
The biggest cost decision comes first. A factory's existing shape in your glaze colour, with your logo on the base, needs no new mould and usually allows a much smaller first run than a new shape. A new design needs a mould, a longer sample stage and a larger commitment. Ask for both options if you are unsure.
Glaze colour is the part most often disputed. Send a physical colour standard rather than a screen colour, agree the acceptable variation between firings, and approve a sample from a production kiln, because the same glaze fires differently in different kilns.

Breakage decides the real cost of ceramics. Agree individual boxes or dividers and carton strength in the order, and have packed cartons opened and checked before shipment. Our own staff in China check glaze colour, defects and packing at the factory and count cartons at loading.
