Under the retained Construction Products Regulation, a product covered by a designated standard must be placed on the GB market with a declaration of performance and UKCA or CE marking. Check whether a designated standard covers your pipes or flue liners, ask the factory for the declaration of performance and test reports before ordering, and check that the joints and fittings match UK systems.

Illustrative example, not a quote: 500 vitrified clay drainage pipes with fittings under 6906 00 00 00, invoiced at £9,000 free on board, with £3,000 of freight and insurance to the UK. The customs value is £12,000. Duty at 0% is £0. Import VAT at 20% is charged on the customs value plus duty, £12,000, so it is £2,400.
