Sourcing ceramic facade cladding tiles from China
Ceramic facade cladding tiles from China carry 4% customs duty, plus anti-dumping duty from 13.90% to 69.70% unless excluded. Obtain the manufacturer's declaration of performance and product marking, and agree exterior-use evidence and fixing details before ordering. Cambridge China Bridge sources ceramic facade cladding tiles.

4% duty plus anti-dumping duty
Read from the UK Trade Tariff on 4 October 2026, heading 6907 covers ceramic wall tiles, mosaics and finishing ceramics alongside paving and hearth tiles. Every listed line carries 4% duty for goods from China and residual anti-dumping duty of 69.70%. No suspensions are recorded in this tariff snapshot. Classification depends on the goods, including water absorption, rather than the description 'facade cladding'.
The wider tile guide records named-exporter anti-dumping rates from 13.90% to 36.50%, subject to the required invoice. It also records exclusion until 24 November 2027 for individual tiles with a largest surface over 0.36 square metres or an edge longer than 600 mm, unless relief on the largest surface exceeds 3 mm. Confirm the exporter, additional code, invoice and actual tile dimensions before costing the order.
The tariff attaches waste import controls and also lists waste export controls and a cultural-object export licence control. Ask your customs broker to confirm their applicability. For waste from China entering England under notification controls, the exporter must apply to the dispatch country's competent authority for consent. Confirm the requirement with your broker before shipping. Use our commodity-code guide and wider ceramic and porcelain tile guide.
| Goods | Commodity code | Duty | Anti-dumping or countervailing duty on China |
|---|---|---|---|

| Ceramic wall tiles with water absorption over 0.5% but not exceeding 10% | 6907 22 00 00 | 4% | 69.70% residual anti-dumping |
| Ceramic mosaic cubes for facade finishes, whether or not on a backing | 6907 30 00 00 | 4% | 69.70% residual anti-dumping |
| Finishing ceramics for facade edges and returns | 6907 40 00 00 | 4% | 69.70% residual anti-dumping |
Specify the tile and its facade fixing
Specify the ceramic body, water absorption, dimensions, thickness, weight, finish, shade range, flatness and matching corners. State whether tiles will be bonded or mechanically fixed. For mechanical fixing, agree drawings showing grooves, holes, edge distances and the mating clips. Ask the project designer to review wind loading, support spacing and the complete wall assembly's fire performance before approving the product.
Obtain the manufacturer's declaration of performance and product marking. CE marking continues to be available for construction products placed on the Great Britain market. Ask for frost-resistance and breaking-strength evidence matching the proposed tile, thickness and finish. Agree how any backing mesh, adhesive or coating is identified in the supplied evidence. Keep an approved sample and fixing drawing with the purchase specification.
Worked duty example
Illustrative example, not a quote: Illustrative container of large-format ceramic facade tiles; confirm anti-dumping exclusion separately under 6907 21 00 00, invoiced at £20,000 free on board, with £3,000 of freight and insurance to the UK. The customs value is £23,000. Duty at 4% is £920. Import VAT at 20% is charged on the customs value plus duty, £23,920, so it is £4,784. Import taxes total £5,704; a VAT-registered importer can usually reclaim the VAT, so the lasting cost is the £920 of duty. The import duty and VAT guide explains each step.
Inspection checklist
Dimensions and fixings: measure thickness, flatness, grooves and holes against the approved drawings; trial-fit the actual clips and corner pieces.
Exterior performance: match water-absorption, frost-resistance and breaking-strength reports to the ordered ceramic body, dimensions and finish.
Shade and surface: compare tiles across pallets in daylight against the approved sample; check glaze defects, edge chips and visible cracks.
Packing and arrival: check batch, shade and calibre identification, corner protection and restraint inside crates; photograph damage before unpacking and record affected batches. See our inspection guide.

What goes wrong
A facade order can arrive with mismatched shades, bowed tiles or grooves that do not fit the selected clips. Samples may conceal differences between production batches. Approve a trial assembly using production tiles and the intended fixings, and inspect across pallets before loading.
Buyers also mistake a generic tile report for evidence covering their backed or coated facade product, or assume that every large tile qualifies for the anti-dumping exclusion. Match reports to the supplied construction and check surface relief as well as dimensions. Keep the tile purchase specification aligned with the project designer's wall and fixing details.

What should I ask the factory for before buying facade tiles?
Ask for the declaration of performance, product marking, exterior-use test evidence, batch identification and fixing drawings. Have the project designer review the proposed tile and complete wall assembly.
What should I check when the tiles arrive?
Check crate damage, cracks, shade and calibre across pallets, tile flatness and the position and condition of fixing grooves or holes. Trial-fit the intended clips and retain photographs and batch records.
