Sourcing antimony ingots from China
Antimony from China, unwrought ingots, powders, waste and scrap and articles, pays 0% UK duty on all five lines of heading 8110, with no anti-dumping duty. Buyers making lead-antimony alloys, flame retardants and batteries check purity grade, arsenic, lead and sulphur limits, GB CLP labels and supply terms.

0% duty
Read from the UK Trade Tariff on 29 September 2026, heading 8110 covers antimony and articles thereof, including waste and scrap, with lines for ingots, other unwrought antimony and powders, waste and scrap, and articles. The tariff attaches a waste import control to the metal, waste and powder lines; new metal clears on a declaration that it is not waste, while waste and scrap need the waste shipment documents.
Antimony trioxide is a chemical of heading 2825; confirm the commodity code from the form.

Specifying antimony
Specify purity grade, arsenic, lead, iron, sulphur and bismuth limits, ingot weight or powder particle size, and packing. Antimony and its dust carry hazard classifications under the retained CLP Regulation, so ask for the GB-format safety data sheet and labels. Ask the supplier in writing whether any export licence or permit is needed on the Chinese side for your product, and build that time into the order.
Worked duty example
Illustrative example, not a quote: 5 tonnes of 99.65% antimony ingots under 8110 10 00 10, invoiced at £60,000 free on board, with £1,000 of freight and insurance to the UK. The customs value is £61,000. Duty at 0% is £0. Import VAT at 20% is charged on the customs value plus duty, £61,000, so it is £12,200. With no duty, the only import tax is the VAT, which a VAT-registered importer can usually reclaim. The import duty and VAT guide explains each step.
Inspection checklist
Assay: sample and assay purity and impurities.
Weight: witness weighing and check ingot counts.
Documents: check the safety data sheet and any export paperwork the supplier said was needed. See our quality inspection guide.
What goes wrong
Antimony orders fail on grade, impurities and delays. Arsenic or lead is above the limit, weights are short, and shipments wait for export paperwork.
Cambridge China Bridge sources minor metals for UK manufacturers with assay and documents agreed before payment. See factory verification.
