How to source spectacle cases from Xinhe

Shortlist Xinhe suppliers by case construction, then compare larger factories and smaller workshops using the same frames, materials and sample brief. Arrange visits around fit approval, covering and final assembly, checking who performs each process. Cambridge China Bridge can coordinate samples and visits through its staff in China.

Use Xinhe's case specialism as a starting point

The official cluster account describes Xinhe in Hebei as an established spectacle-case manufacturing centre moving from household workshops towards automated production and customised cases. It reports automated glue application and covering at Haoyuan. This gives you a place to investigate, but does not establish any supplier's suitability for your order.

Start enquiries with the construction you need: a rigid hinged case, moulded shell, folding case or soft pouch. Ask suppliers to show comparable work and explain which operations they perform. For general equipment checks, use our guide to verifying factory capability.

Compare factories and workshops on your actual case

Send the same brief to larger factories and smaller workshops. Ask a larger factory to demonstrate repeatability on its covering and assembly line, including how it handles colour changes and rejects. Ask a workshop to demonstrate the consistency of hand finishing and identify who can repeat the approved work.

Treat flexibility, capacity and consistency as questions to test, rather than benefits guaranteed by size. Compare samples, material purchasing, named production sites and responsibility for rework. Request separate explanations of tooling, branding, packing and outsourced operations so that apparently similar quotations cover the same work.

Approve fit with your own frames

Send representative frames from your range, including bulky folded styles and any shapes likely to touch the lid or lining. Check usable internal space with the finished lining fitted. Close the case normally and inspect contact at lenses, bridge and temples; check that the closure holds without pressing on the spectacles.

Arrange a fit-sample session with the person who can alter the shell, lining or hinge position. Record the frame references, construction and changes against each sample. Translate the outcome into a product specification, then approve a finished sample with the intended covering, lining, logo and closure before releasing production.

Book covering and assembly visits around live work

Before travelling, confirm the addresses, process owners and whether comparable work will be running. Request access to covering preparation, glue application, wrapping, lining installation and final assembly where relevant to your design. If a process takes place elsewhere, arrange access to that site and identify who checks the returned parts.

At covering, examine shade, grain direction, wrinkles, exposed edges and glue marks. At assembly, check shell alignment, hinge movement, lining attachment and closure pressure using your frames. Ask to see rejected work and its disposition. Finish the visit by recording defects, agreed corrections and the sample that will be used for comparison.

Make the visit lead to a production decision

Keep a labelled approved sample with the buyer and supplier, supported by photographs and written acceptance criteria. Include covering and lining identities, acceptable visual variation, frame-fit checks and packing. Ask the supplier to seek approval before changing a material or production site. Our sampling guide explains how to carry sample approval into the order.

For repeat orders, compare newly made cases against the retained sample and your current frame range. Cambridge China Bridge's staff in China can coordinate the fit-sample session and process visits, document what was observed and follow up corrections. Agree the visit scope and required evidence before booking.

Frequently asked questions

Is Xinhe a good place to source spectacle cases?

Its official cluster account documents an established case industry and automated covering. Use that as a shortlist starting point, then verify the supplier's construction, fit and process control.

Should I choose a large factory or a small workshop?

Compare both against the same sample brief. Test repeatability, finishing, material control and responsibility for rework. Size alone does not establish suitability.

What should I send for a spectacle-case fit sample?

Send representative frames, including bulky folded styles, plus your construction and finish brief. Check fit with the finished lining, normal closure and intended logo.

What should a Xinhe factory visit cover?

Arrange fit review, covering and assembly demonstrations relevant to your case. Confirm live work and access beforehand, including any outsourced site, and record corrections against the approved sample.
