Can I return different sellers' orders together?

Combine returns only after the marketplace or sellers confirm in writing that the authorised label covers every listed order and item. A shared address is not enough. Otherwise, use the separate return arrangements. Keep item records linked to the parcel and check each refund. For factory return coordination, contact Cambridge China Bridge.

Confirm permission before combining returns

Treat combining returns as a proposal to approve, rather than assuming that purchases made through the same marketplace can travel together. Send the seller names, order references and exact items to the marketplace through your account. Ask who can authorise a combined return and whether the receiving centre can allocate the contents to each seller.

A shared warehouse address or combined original delivery does not establish return-label coverage. Obtain approval covering every affected return case. If the replies conflict or leave items unmentioned, keep those returns separate. For a dispute about faulty goods, use our faulty goods and claims guide.

Match each authorised label to its contents

Create a return register with a row for each item: seller, order reference, product and variant, quantity, return case, authorised label reference, tracking reference and expected refund. Save the label and the message identifying its coverage beside that register. Distinguish items being returned from items you are keeping.

Ask explicitly: does this label cover all the listed orders and items, or only the return case shown beside it? Confirm the destination, dispatch deadline and packed weight and size limits. If combining changes the booking, request an updated authorised label. Ask which unused labels or return cases should be cancelled and how each order should record the shared tracking.

Build evidence for each item

Before packing, photograph each item with a note showing its order and return reference. Capture its condition, distinguishing marks and included accessories. For similar products from different sellers, keep separate labelled inner packs so the receiving team can distinguish them. Ask whether opening or repacking the original packaging affects the agreed return arrangements.

Include an itemised contents list mapping each inner pack to its seller, order and return case. Keep a matching copy. Photograph the identifiable items together, their placement in the parcel, and the sealed parcel with its readable authorised label. These records help connect the contents to the shipment; a delivery scan alone does not identify the returned items.

Check the shipment before handover

Check that the selected service accepts the complete combined contents, including any batteries, liquids or damaged items. Confirm packing instructions and any compensation exclusions with the carrier. Remove obsolete outer shipping labels and follow the approved instructions for the current label or collection code.

HMRC says a package sent outside the UK must have a completed customs declaration attached. Ask the carrier how to describe all the combined contents and supply the supporting documents. For address, carrier and declaration preparation, follow our personal purchase return guide; business buyers should confirm their shipment paperwork with their customs agent.

Close every order separately

Keep the handover receipt, recorded parcel weight where available, tracking history and delivery confirmation with the return register. Submit the authorised shared tracking reference through each covered return case as agreed. Ask the receiving team to acknowledge each listed item and identify anything missing, damaged or allocated to a different order.

Check each refund against the agreed outcome for that item, rather than closing all cases when the parcel arrives. If an item remains unresolved, send its approval, label mapping, packing evidence and receipt records through that case. For a missing shipment, see our seller prepaid label loss guide. Cambridge China Bridge's staff in China can help coordinate factory receipt records for sourcing returns.

Frequently asked questions

Can I combine returns from different marketplace sellers?

Ask for written approval covering every seller, order and item under the proposed label. If coverage is unclear or replies conflict, use separate return arrangements.

Does the same return address mean I can combine parcels?

A shared address does not establish label coverage. Ask whether the receiving centre can allocate every item to its order and whether the proposed label covers those return cases.

Can I use a return label for another order?

Ask the marketplace or seller to confirm its exact coverage before using it. If the added order is not covered, request an authorised combined label or keep the returns separate.

How do I prove every item was in my return?

Keep item photographs, identifying details, an order-linked contents list, packing photographs and handover evidence. Ask for item-level receipt confirmation; tracking alone does not identify the contents.
