Can I complain about a China order for a relative?
Yes, you can help, but ask the seller and payment provider separately to confirm what authority they need. Record permission to discuss the case and who may accept a settlement. If the buyer cannot make the relevant decisions, check existing financial authority and seek advice where it is missing. Cambridge China Bridge can help organise the supplier evidence.

Identify the buyer and the help they want
Collect the order confirmation, seller details and payment record. Identify the named buyer and account holder, and record whether the purchase was personal or for a business. If a company placed the order, arrange company approval through its order and payment controls, alongside any arrangements for helping your relative.
Ask whether the person wants help writing messages, receiving replies, negotiating or deciding on a settlement. Avoid assuming that age, difficulty typing or difficulty speaking means they cannot decide. Ask which communication method works for them; see accessible complaints and returns for that separate issue.
Agree complaint consent with each organisation
Ask the seller and payment provider separately for their representative-authorisation procedure. Where the buyer can decide, propose a dated permission statement naming the buyer, representative, order or transaction, contact details and permitted tasks. Ask whether they accept that statement or need their own form, direct confirmation or identity checks.
Specify permission to receive order information and complaint replies. Separately record who may agree a refund, replacement, return costs or final settlement. Include an expiry or withdrawal arrangement and ask each organisation to acknowledge the accepted scope. Use UK seller supply terms to check the agreed complaint and warranty route.
Check financial authority if consent is not enough
For decisions about money, ask to check any existing property and financial affairs lasting power of attorney and its conditions. It must be registered before the attorney starts acting. An ordinary power of attorney ceases to provide legal authority if the donor loses mental capacity. Check who is appointed and whether other attorneys need to participate before proposing a settlement.
The lasting-power-of-attorney arrangement described here is legally binding only in England and Wales. Seek advice on the appropriate arrangement for Scotland or Northern Ireland. If the person lacks mental capacity and suitable existing authority cannot be found, ask a solicitor about applying to the Court of Protection in England and Wales for a decision or longer-term authority.
Prepare an authority pack through a secure channel
Ask each recipient which documents and delivery channel they accept. Prepare the authority document, relevant registration evidence, requested identity and address evidence, and the order or account reference. Banks and other organisations ask for proof of attorney status. A certified copy can prove permission to act, for example when managing the donor’s bank account.
Ask whether an original, certified copy or supported online verification route is appropriate, and whether further checks are needed. Avoid sending original documents without agreeing their return. Use your own representative access rather than sharing the buyer’s password. Ask what information can be omitted from complaint attachments while preserving the authority evidence the recipient needs.

Keep seller and payment complaints coordinated
Prepare a shared case file containing the order, payment evidence, faults, photographs, correspondence and requested remedy. Keep separate seller and payment-provider references and record who accepted your authority. Ask the provider about applicable claim deadlines immediately while authority checks continue; do not assume those checks extend a deadline. See escalating a payment-provider complaint for the separate escalation process.
Before accepting a proposal, record the decision-maker, the agreed remedy and any effect on an open payment claim. Agree the refund destination with the provider and report any seller refund to it. Cambridge China Bridge’s staff in China can help collect factory evidence and relay an authorised proposal; agree separately who makes the settlement decision.
