Check pre-export conformity before ordering
Uganda’s official Import Inspection Clearance page starts with identifying whether the product is regulated under the compulsory standards schedule. It then directs applicants to a UNBS-appointed pre-export verification of conformity provider in the country of export. For goods sourced in China, settle this route while the goods are still there.
Send your broker and the appointed provider the specification, intended use, materials and product photographs before committing to production. Ask them to confirm the applicable standards, assessment route and certificate arrangements for this consignment. Build their response into the factory brief and shipment release checklist.
Name the seaport or border point in the quote
Uganda is landlocked. We quote to the seaport or border point you name, with the onward leg agreed separately. State the precise handover location, freight term, unloading arrangements and insurance scope. Ask for transit handling, inland transport and destination charges to be identified so you can compare the complete route.

Agree the factory document pack
We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the Chinese factory and the agreed seller. Before shipment, have your broker check the seller, buyer, consignee, goods description, quantities, values and delivery terms against the proposed entry. Make sure the packing list describes what is actually packed.
Agree who will obtain the certificate of origin and collect the available test reports for the exact product and model. We check the reports against the ordered specification and coordinate further testing where agreed. Ask the broker and conformity provider which documents they need, then resolve gaps before dispatch.
Check the supplier and the goods separately
Our staff in China check the supplier’s identity, production address, equipment and ability to make your specification. We establish whether production is in-house or subcontracted, review relevant reports and agree an approved sample. Your own broker handles the arrival entry
URA states that customs agents must be licensed before taking part in customs clearance. Appoint your own broker early and agree responsibility for the declaration, classification, valuation, applicable permits, conformity documents and arrival examinations. Your broker confirms the final entry and the duties and taxes payable.
Send the broker draft documents before shipment and the final pack when issued. Agree who follows up on document queries, transit handover and release, and ask for payment and clearance records.
