Assemble product bundles in China or the UK?
Choose China assembly when bundle contents and demand are stable, and finished kits can be checked before shipment. Choose UK assembly when you need to change the mix after stock arrives. Compare actual quotations through to released, sellable bundles. Discuss the China assembly route with Cambridge China Bridge.

Choose where to commit the bundle mix
China assembly commits components to finished bundles before shipment. It suits repeat combinations with settled packaging and predictable demand. UK assembly lets you hold components loose and choose the bundle mix closer to sale, provided the warehouse has the materials, capacity and instructions to do the work.
Consider a mixed approach: assemble established bundles in China and retain loose components for changing offers in the UK. Check whether opening an unsold finished bundle would damage its packaging or make components difficult to reuse. Our bundle packing and stock guide covers the contents specification; this decision starts with how often that specification changes.
Compare component availability, not just kit stock
Loose components can serve different bundles or standalone sales, but shared stock creates competing demands. Ask the UK warehouse how it reserves components for assembly and prevents another order consuming them. In China, establish whether unassembled components are available to your order or already committed elsewhere.
For each route, identify the component that could stop assembly, where replacement stock would sit and who would arrange replenishment. Include packaging and inserts in that check. Record ownership, stock reporting, storage charges and what happens to unused components when a bundle changes.
Compare errors and the cost of correction
Ask each assembler to demonstrate the proposed process with your actual components and packaging. Look for opportunities to confuse similar variants, omit an insert or apply the wrong bundle label. Ask how an interrupted packing run resumes and how suspect work is separated from released stock.
China assembly gives you an opportunity to correct discovered errors before shipment. UK assembly puts correction nearer your sales stock, but consumes warehouse labour and may interrupt dispatch. Agree who pays for opening, sorting, replacement packaging and reassembly, and what evidence establishes responsibility. Use our warehouse service levels guide to record assembly and dispatch arrangements.
Arrange access to the finished bundle
For China assembly, confirm the assembly location and access to finished kits before shipment, especially if components come from several factories. For UK assembly, arrange access to the packing area and completed work before dispatch. Inspection of loose components alone does not show whether the final bundle has been packed correctly.
Agree who can open sealed kits, how they are resealed and who authorises release after correction. Our full inspection or sampling guide helps define the inspection scope. UK businesses making, importing, distributing or selling consumer products are responsible for their safety. As a practical check, review compatibility and keep safety information accessible in the finished bundle.

Request comparable assembly quotations
Send the China assembler and UK warehouse the same contents specification, packed sample and expected order mix. Request itemised quotations covering setup, component receipt and sorting, assembly, packaging, labels, checks, storage and correction work. Ask what triggers extra charges, how output is charged and whether inspection, resealing and unused-material handling are included.
Compare the total cost through to released, sellable bundles, including freight based on the proposed packed dimensions, UK handling and the cost of changing unsold kits. Use our landed price guide for the wider cost comparison. Choose using the actual quotations and observed trial work; a lower assembly charge alone does not establish the cheaper route.
Frequently asked questions
Is it cheaper to assemble bundles in China?
Compare actual quotations through to sellable stock. Include packaging, freight, checks, UK handling and correction work. The assembly charge alone cannot answer this.
When should I assemble bundles in a UK warehouse?
Consider UK assembly when bundle combinations change with demand or components also sell separately. Confirm the warehouse can reserve stock, assemble correctly and meet dispatch needs.
Can I assemble some bundles in China and some in the UK?
Yes. Consider China assembly for settled combinations and loose UK stock for changing offers. Agree component allocation, packaging supply and replenishment before ordering.
What should an assembly quotation include?
Ask for setup, receipt and sorting, assembly, packaging, labels, checks, storage and correction charges. Confirm extra-charge triggers and the handling of unused components.
