Getting started

Can I reorder matching furnishings from China?

Yes, if the model and materials are still available and the supplier accepts your quantity. Matching is not guaranteed: save dimensions, fabric or finish codes and approved swatches, then compare a current sample with the item in your home. Cambridge China Bridge can ask the supplier to check availability and coordinate sample comparison.

Create a household purchase record

Keep a folder for each furnishing, with the supplier’s contact details, order confirmation, invoice, model reference and delivery date. Add photographs of labels and the delivered item. Record which room it belongs in and what a later purchase must match. This guide concerns genuine branded, factory own-brand or unbranded goods for your home.

Ask the supplier to confirm the details below against what was actually delivered. A catalogue name such as ‘natural oak’ or ‘cream linen’ is too vague for a later reorder. Save the confirmed record somewhere you can find it without access to the original shopping account.

Keep samples and plan for future additions

Keep approved swatches protected from light, damp and dirt. Ask for an offcut from the actual curtain fabric used, rather than relying only on the earlier selection swatch. Record where each sample came from. Photographs help identify a product, but screen colours should not decide whether a new fabric or finish matches.

If matching additions matter, ask whether the supplier can reserve material from your batch or supply spare fabric with the original order. Agree ownership, storage, charges and what happens when the reserve runs out. Do not treat a promise to keep making the range as a stock reservation. For coordinated curtains and cushions, see matching home textiles.

Check availability and minimum orders again

Send your purchase record when asking to buy again. Request written confirmation that the exact model is still made, which materials remain available and whether the proposed item is existing stock or newly made. Ask about changes to fabric, lining, upholstery, frame shape, finish or production location. Use repeat-order change checks when a substitution is proposed.

Ask whether the factory will accept the quantity you need, and whether its minimum applies to the finished item, fabric or finish batch. Request separate options for exact remaining stock and a fresh production run. Never agree to a different colour just to meet a minimum without comparing it. Our existing-supplier service can coordinate enquiries; small-order support helps explore available options.

Compare with the furnishings in your home

Ask for a current sample from the material intended for your reorder. Compare it with both your retained swatch and the furnishing now in use, in daylight and under your room lighting. Existing items may have changed through sunlight, cleaning or wear. A matching code helps identify the intended material; it does not prove a visual match.

For curtains, compare texture, drape, lining, heading and pattern placement as well as colour. For a chair, compare seat height, frame shape, upholstery and finish; approve natural grain variation using the furniture grain-matching guide. Our sample-comparison service can coordinate checks in China, but your home comparison remains part of the decision.

Approve the reorder or choose an alternative

Confirm the accepted sample, dimensions and any differences in writing before production. State that substitutions need your approval, and ask for checks of the finished item before dispatch. If the match is unacceptable, consider replacing the curtains that hang together or choosing a deliberately contrasting chair. Ask for these alternatives to be quoted rather than accepting an unseen ‘nearest match’.

Compare the complete delivered cost, including samples, packing, transport and any charges excluded from the quote. For a UK parcel or courier delivery, the carrier will tell you if VAT or duty needs paying. Ask who handles those payments and whether delivery includes bringing the item indoors. Add the new order, sample approval and delivered photographs to your household record.

Frequently asked questions

Can I reorder curtains with the same fabric code?

Ask whether the exact fabric and colour remain available, then compare a current swatch with your curtains. The code alone does not confirm the shade, lining or finished appearance.

Can I buy an extra dining chair from the same factory?

Ask whether the model is still made and whether the factory accepts your quantity. Confirm dimensions, frame shape, upholstery and finish against your original purchase record.

What if my furnishing has been discontinued?

Ask about remaining finished stock or reserved material. Compare any proposed replacement before approving it. If it cannot match, consider replacing the adjoining group or choosing a deliberate contrast.

Are photos enough to order a matching item?

Use photos to identify the item and labels, then compare physical samples. Lighting and screens can hide differences. Record which sample you accepted and any variation you agreed.
