How to export Rubber hoses from the UK to China
Match each product to its Chinese tariff line, agree the import requirements with your Chinese importer and prepare the UK export declaration. Duty varies by line and import VAT adds to landed cost. Cambridge China Bridge’s own staff in China find and check Chinese importers and distributors for UK brands.

Match the product before agreeing the export route
For rubber hoses, belts and seals, confirm classification and import requirements before ordering. UK exports under HS 4009-4016 (24 subheadings): HMRC recorded £15.5m of UK goods exports to mainland China under 24 HS6 subheadings in 2025 (2024: £26.6m, -41.7%). Exports to Hong Kong under the same codes were £4.3m. January to July 2026: £4.9m against £8.2m in the same months of 2025 (-41%).
The largest UK export line was 40094200 at £5.4m; that is the whole tariff-line total, not sales of your particular hose.
GACC Decree 280 covers overseas food manufacturers, so its food-manufacturer registration does not apply to these goods. Have the importer’s customs broker confirm the requirements for the particular product and use before shipment.
Price against the Chinese tariff line
The following MFN rates apply to the listed Chinese tariff lines. Hose lines carry 10%, while several transmission-belt lines carry 8%. Classification matters beyond the hose range: HS 401610 splits into Chinese lines 40161010 and 40161090, and HS 401699 splits into 40169910 and 40169990, with different rates.
Import VAT is generally 13%, subject to the VAT Law’s reduced-rate and special provisions. Its base is the customs value plus customs duty plus consumption tax. The importer’s customs broker or adviser confirms whether consumption tax applies to this product. These border taxes add to landed cost and shape the price your importer can offer.
| Chinese tariff line | Rate |
|---|---|
| 4010-4016 (7 subheadings) | 8% |
| 4009-4016 (16 subheadings) | 10% |
| 40161090 | 15% |
| 40169400 / 40169500 | 18% |
Prepare the UK shipment information
For exports from England, Scotland or Wales, arrange a GB EORI and the correct UK commodity code. The online export declaration needs the value, weight, packaging, destination, transport and invoice and packing-list references. Give the carrier the invoice and any applicable export licences or certificates. Keep the product description consistent with the hose, belt or rubber article your Chinese importer has assessed.
Use retail e-commerce only for eligible articles
The cross-border e-commerce retail import list only partially covers this range: Chinese lines 40161090, 40169200, 40169500 and 40169990 are listed. Listed goods entering through bonded 1210 or direct 9610 are supervised as personal-use articles, without first-import licence, registration or filing requirements, except for suspended epidemic-area goods or emergency risk handling. Do not offer this as a route for supplying a distributor’s resale stock.
The overseas retail business bears the main product quality and safety responsibility and must appoint a mainland-registered company for customs registration, truthful declarations and shared civil liability. Before ordering, consumers must accept a risk notice covering origin-country standards, possible differences from Chinese standards, possible absence of Chinese labels and access to a Chinese electronic label. Purchases are for personal use and may not be resold.

Check the importer before committing stock
Ask a prospective importer which products it wants, which Chinese tariff lines it proposes and how it will resolve product-specific import requirements. Our own staff in China find and check Chinese importers and distributors for UK brands. If an importer has already approached you, our staff in China check that company before stock is sent or anything is signed.
We prepare registration and label work with licensed partners in China. The importer of record and, where required, the cross-border e-commerce agent remain licensed partners in China; your own filings stay yours. We check the proposed work with those partners. Use Cambridge China Bridge’s export service to discuss finding or checking an importer for your products.
