Alibaba Ready to Ship: trial order checks
Before paying, confirm saleable quantities by variant, how and when stock is reserved, and the dispatch deadline recorded in your order. Ask whether branding can be applied to existing stock or needs a production order with revised terms. For checks with its own staff in China, contact Cambridge China Bridge.

Confirm what is available for your exact order
Alibaba describes Ready to Ship products as available for immediate purchase with light or no customisation. Treat that description as the starting point for checking your selected options. Ask for a dated stock sheet showing the model, colour, size, specification and saleable quantity available for each variant you intend to buy.
Ask the supplier to separate physically available goods from stock already allocated to other buyers, incoming replenishment and unfinished goods. Confirm the warehouse location and request current photographs or a live stock check tied to your variant sheet. Check whether your requested mix can actually be supplied; our minimum pack guide covers assortment restrictions.
Agree when the stock becomes reserved
Ask what triggers reservation: order acceptance, payment receipt or a separate written confirmation. Record when the hold expires, which variants and quantities it covers, and whether goods remain available to other buyers while you arrange payment or checks. Do not assume a quotation or shopping-cart selection reserves the stock.
Request a reservation confirmation referencing your order and stock sheet. Agree how shortages will be reported and require your written approval before substitution, partial dispatch or replenishment. Decide what happens if the agreed stock cannot be supplied. For identifying and protecting the physical lot during inspection, use our stock-lot buying guide.
Define dispatch separately from arrival
Replace “ships quickly” with a dispatch deadline and a defined event, such as collection by the agreed carrier. Ask what starts the dispatch period and whether payment clearance, artwork approval, repacking or inspection must happen first. Record the warehouse, shipping method, destination and whether the commitment covers every ordered variant.
Ask for carrier acceptance evidence tied to your order; a shipping label alone should not be your agreed proof of handover. Keep the expected arrival date separate from the dispatch commitment. Agree who contacts you if dispatch slips and what options you can choose. Our Alibaba safety guide explains keeping commitments in the platform order and using platform payment.
Check whether branding changes the order
Send the exact artwork and describe where branding must appear, including the product, retail pack and outer carton. Ask whether the work can be applied to the reserved finished goods or requires new materials, packaging, assembly or manufacturing. Request a written list of the processes involved rather than accepting “customisation available” as confirmation.
Ask whether the supplier will fulfil the changes under the Ready to Ship order or needs a separately quoted production order. Confirm any revised MOQ, charges, approval steps and dispatch commitment before paying. Use our MOQ and sampling guide for production minimums and our stock-sample guide for what an unchanged sample leaves unproven.

Make the trial useful before authorising dispatch
Write down what the trial must establish: demand for the selected variants, the existing product’s quality, the branded finish or the supplier’s fulfilment. If you buy plain stock while considering an own-brand product, record that branding and the later production process remain untested. Do not describe the trial as approval of changes you have not seen. For later production checks, see our run-at-rate trial guide.
Before payment, reconcile the variant sheet, reservation confirmation, branding scope and dispatch commitment with the actual order. Before dispatch, check the packed variant quantities and any approved branding against that record. Hold unresolved changes for buyer approval. Cambridge China Bridge’s staff in China can check the available goods and requested work against your written brief.
Frequently asked questions
Does Alibaba Ready to Ship mean every colour is in stock?
Confirm current saleable quantities for each colour, size and model. Ask the supplier to distinguish available stock from allocated goods, replenishment and unfinished items.
Does an Alibaba quotation reserve stock?
Ask what triggers reservation and obtain written confirmation of the variants, quantities and hold expiry. Do not assume a quotation or cart selection reserves goods.
Does the dispatch date mean delivery to the UK?
Keep dispatch and arrival separate. Define dispatch as an agreed handover event, request carrier acceptance evidence and obtain a separate arrival estimate for your destination.
Can I add my logo to a Ready to Ship trial order?
Ask whether your artwork can be applied to existing stock under the selected order. If production is needed, obtain revised minimums, charges, approval steps and dispatch terms before paying.
